Getting ready for this wedding in August is starting to cloud my mind. Time keeps ticking & I am always a choice away to being closer to my goal weight. I have hit a plateau and haven't lost anything in a week and a half. This shows me my body has gotten used to the things I have been doing and its time to kick it up another notch. Every week I add/change/substitute something new to make a gradual weight loss transition. Breakfast is something I have always struggled with. I had College Studies Classes in high school which meant I was in school and had classes before AND after a lot of my peers I grew up with. Having to be at school and ready to learn at 7:00am was great, except anytime I ate breakfast, it made me extremely sick and nauseous. For years, I avoided "the most important meal of the day" and chose to eat virtually nothing until lunch for years. As an adult, I see how this impacts my kids and how truly important it is as it sets the tone for the rest of the day. Now on my better me journey, I have opted for something healthy, quick and most importantly I can stomach ( see what I did there) in the morning. Cue in: Steel Cut Oats & Agave Sweetener.
According to Livestrong.com:
"Steel cut oats could be considered a "power food" because they are an excellent source of protein, soluble and insoluble fiber and select vitamins and minerals. The benefits of steel cut oats exceed the benefits of rolled oats because of the way they are processed."
This was a no brainer for me. There's fiber, protein AND vitamins at the top of the morning: SIGN ME UP! The fact that this is also relatively cheap to purchase amazes me. A 1/4 cup of oats goes a very long way. I use a tablespoon of organic agave as a sweetener instead of regular sugar for natural property reasons.
The oatmeal is filling and actually tastes good. Because of how its made, the oatmeal is a little more light compared to instant regular oatmeal which can be kind of thick and dark. Surprisingly this "sticks to my stomach" and doesn't make it hurt. I feel full and dont snack as often. By lunchtime, I am not starving which aids in making a better choice on what to eat/drink.
I pair my oatmeal with my daily #Matcha Tea and start my day. Between the full tummy, the energy boost from the tea and my amazing brain, I am ready to take over the world, one bowl of #SteelCut at a time!
