I DO! My First Ever Bridal Party Event Experience!

No. I am not getting married. PHEW! lol.... but my son's aunt is getting married in August this year and has asked me to be a bridesmaid. Now, although some of my friends are married, none have had a true "traditional" wedding. They either eloped while we were still in highschool ( they all divorced by 25) or they couldn't afford an extravagant wedding so opted for a"no bridal party" wedding. Needless to say, this is my first go around at being a bridesmaid. I immediately googled what my duties were and what was expected. On top of that, my daughter will be one of the flower girls and we haven't practiced walking down "aisles" yet...but we'll get there.

This past weekend, the bride held her first official meeting of the wedding party. It was held at The French Gardens, a swanky name we nicknamed the mother of the brides new home in honor of its grandeur. There were Mimosas on site, a makeup presentation as well as a hairstylist breakdown and a light lunch.

I took my daughter ( did I mention she's 3) with me. She is usually pretty good when it comes to events plus it helped that we are all moms on the wedding party and she had a friend to keep her busy. She enjoyed playing with the girly decor and swatching multiple clear lip glosses on her wrist like a pro so she felt included.

As I stated before, this is my first ever go around as a bridesmaid so I'm pretty chill with the news. I've heard horror stories of brides making ridiculous demands turning them into bridezillas. I've seen the bridal party feel jealous and fall into the "she's more my friend than yours" syndrome which after a certain age is totally not cute btw! I think the major thing to keep in mind when dealing with so many different personalities is to have a clear central point of communication across the board. Luckily...we have a pretty decent group of women I think can blend with each other for the sake of our dear friend and sister!

This is why this experience is one I am looking forward to. They were SUPER on point with the organization of the wedding. Not only did the bride hand us our folders with info, dates and timelines....it also had cost summaries, timelines for fittings and alterations and photos of the venue. By the end of the brunch, we all pretty much got with the program and left confident that at least we as the bridal party wouldn't f*** anything up!

Do any of you have any great ( or horror ) stories to share...comment below with any advice! Watch me go on this journey of dress fittings, weight loss diets, saying yes to MY dress and more by subscribing to my blog or following me on Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest.
