From time to time, as an event planner, you must stretch your brain by doing quick tasks to exercise your creative muscles. This keeps you on your toes and forces you to see things in unconventional ways.
This past weekend, I took pictures of one of these exercises. The challenge is to pick a theme and look around your home/office/decor supplies and put a sample display for a table or other item in under 10 mins. That's it! No buying extra supplies or decor just using what you have on hand already.
I chose a pink theme. I chose this because #SweetestDay is coming up and it was also a great excuse for me and my baby girl to eat chocolate covered marshmallows and have the living room decorated!
I immediately grabbed everything and anything with a pink or rose color in my home and collected it in the room. I started with this cute donuts table cover to set the tone. I had a pink LED light in my daughter's room the read "LOVE"...perfect for the mood. Next, I had some giant marshmallows left over (because I have a serious addiction to smore's) and half a bag of white chocolate. I melted a bit of chocolate in the microwave and dipped the marshmallows in the chocolate and decorated them with red and pink edible glitter from some cake pops I made the other night for a client. While those dried, I placed some flowers from an old bouquet I had inside some mason jars and threw some fake pearls in the glass to spice it up.
I printed some signs from my computer that read " On Wednesdays, we wear pink" from the infamous "Mean Girls" movie and placed those inside some dollar frames however you can make yours say whatever you'd like.
I always have photo booth props around the house as this is my favorite thing to do at events and placed those in another mason jar. I tossed some pink tulle and set up some pink gift bags and some leftover heart confetti from my daughter's school project to complete the look. The garland was made by cutting some pink goodie bags and white paper. I hung it with masking tape to keep the paint on the wall safe but when in a real event setting this must be secured properly with proper items! The clothespins I had painted with glitter glue for my daughter's room so she could hang up her artwork.
That was literally it! A "No cost, no time" party table in less than 10 mins. Now grab some wine, invite the girlfriends over and have a good ol' fashion afternoon with the girls!
